MMA Insurance has announced a raft of promotions and appointments to bolsters its commercial underwriting team ahead of a new push to expand its presence in the UK commercial lines market.

Brian Johnston joins the Glasgow Regional Underwriting Team as senior regional underwriter after demonstrating substantial ability in developing Scottish business.

Sally Chamberlain has been promoted in the Manchester Regional Underwriting Team to become regional underwriter.

Chamberlain joined the firm three years ago as assistant underwriter, and has since completed her Cert CII examination.

Irene McFarlane has been appointed by the Newcastle Regional Underwriting Team to the position of senior regional underwriter, a post to which she brings 15 years of experience in the Newcastle market.

The Reading Regional Underwriting Team is joined by Matthew Giles, who becomes senior regional underwriter.

Giles joins the firm from Axa, and has previously worked for Zurich, Aviva and RSA in London and the South East of England.

The Reading-based Commercial Lines Underwriting Team has appointed Nick Dinsdale as portfolio underwriting manager, a post to which he brings over a decade of experience.
